Food makes the belly go round

Just a short photo diary of what I've been eating and cooking and baking (at home and in school) ever since the term starts. To be honest there is so much more as compared to what is pictured here which I, unfortunately, am not able to get pictures of. Oh and not forgetting the bak chor mee and nasi padang and SPICY FRIES from the engine school canteen. Why everyone says that engine school food sucks--that I will never comprehend. They are actually pretty good!!

Right enough rambling already let's get down to serious food investigation.

Roast chix with pan gravy served with whipped potatoes, French beans and glazed carrots. I was so nervous while doing this oh my. But it turned out well so yay!

Swee Choon with a huge-ass gang after CCM Orientation 2 Saturdays ago!!!!!!!! Not in the best mood to have gorgeous dim-sum but then again you can never be unhappy eating dim sum so... yeah.

Eggs benedict on eggs day last week! Hollandaise sauce was totally a pain in the <s>ass</s> upper-right arm because of all the whisking but eating it was a pleasure hahaha.

Scrambled eggs with onions and carrots to go with our takeaway chix rice. This dish is probably the start of the series of cooking that I have been doing at home. All the cooking done in school was... inspiring.

Carrot soup especially for the bros who are having their MYEs. At first Muk didn't dare to it tsk.

BAJA FRESH again with a bigger group this time to celebrate the end of 3 hell weeks hahah ok I kid. Celebratory meal to reward ourselves for cooking up a storm on the Test Day last Friday. Tostada never fails I tell you, the crispy, salty skin is so so good. It was such a great day.

(Un)toasted bread with peanut butter spread topped with sliced banana mm the brother reckons it would be better with the bread toasted and I thought likewise. Been seeing this combo all over Instagram and I happen to have bananas in the house so here it is. And peanut butter actually goes well with the banana o myyy

Saturday luncheon for the bros: (step) rice pilaf which failed miserably because I used the rice at home and apparently it didn't turn out like how it should be when I did it in school hahahaha oh well at least it's edible. Also the same scrambled eggs with carrots and onions (gotta clear the carrots in the fridge) and saute codfish with sweet n sour n spicy sauce. I took 2 and a half hours to get all these done because I was undecided as to how the fish should be cooked. Plus you can say that it's my first time cooking up 3 dishes at one go at home ha ha.

Mother's Day brunch for Mukmin HAHA don't get me wrong: the mother's away in Jakarta so I did some cooking in the late morning. Can't believe I woke up at 8 just to follow my dad to the market to get the chicken, and to also explore the market a little bit more (which I used to hardly frequent). I'm thinking that I'll be going there pretty often to get fresh produce and proteins, rather than the Shop-n-Save-turned-Giant near my house which I've been heading to quite often now hahaha. Anway here it is: saute black pepper chicken with onions served with whipped potatoes and roast carrots. This one took 90 minutes for exactly 2 portions whew.

Chocolate chip cookies on B&P Day 1!!!!! I've learnt sooooo much in the past few days during B&P it's a bit siao ah really. It's totally information overload. But then again I'm learning cool stuff and making desserts so what's not to love!

Quick half-hour "cooking" for dinner for us three: baked potato wedges and chicken nuggets and wholemeal toast and baked beans and fruit cocktail. It was easy 'cause everything was pre-packed. the beans and cocktail were canned and from the supermarket haha oops.

Dill biscuits made yesterday! I love love love love love this, though it can get very jelat, especially when eaten on it's own (which we did) sigh can you imagine if we had minestrone to go with this oh myyyyy it'll be like fireworks in the mouth.

Dinner @ Kelvin's dad's hawker!! Bak chor mee which was actually good! Plus the company that made dinner so very comfortable and enjoyable, all the jokes and sharing and laughing. Cheers to meals like these!!

Today! Dill soft roll and corn muffin. The soft rolls are sooooo cute and pillow-y pre-baked!!! If it was life-sized I would have hugged it hahaha no seriously it is so soft and bouncy (in an adorable way) but mine turned out pretty tough on the outside when cooked. Oh and the corn muffins were a joy to make because it only requires 3 basic steps - 5 minutes from individual ingredients to batter in the cupcake casing ready to be popped into the oven hais I think even my 7 year-old niece can do it.

And tonight's dinner which took slightly less than 90 minutes to make!!!! I pretty much threw in everything I have in the kitchen hahaha. Some snow peas-carrot-onion combo for veggies and noodles with diced fried egg (am I even correct) and mushrooms and chicken cooked in garlic chili sauce. Teamed up with Muk to whip this up (also because he was already hungry) and it turned out well!

More food pix soon ok so stay tuned coz I'm a masterchef-to-be chey hahahaha kidding ya ok goodnight folks!
