I feel like it's a big jump from seventeen (would love to be 17 forever) to cross the 18 line. And up till this second it still felt surreal to me. This new "now you're already 18" label seems to demand maturity and more responsibilities i.e. having to carry with my IC in my wallet now everywhere I go (I'd only kept it with my passport prior to this gosh I was such a kid hahaha). Nevertheless I'm looking forward to what being at this age has in store for me!
I'm not sure whether having to wake up at six in the morning (for the first time in many months) for school on your birthday is a pleasant thing but that's what I did anyway. Culinary Practicum Orientation was what happened and generally it was all talks, one after another. Formally introduced to the faculty (chefs, lecturers) and then casually got to know everyone else in the batch (by a paper-airplane-flying exercise lol ikr), with some serious (though inevitably sleep-inducing) briefings sandwiched in between. But as much as the system and programme is extremely strict, I think I'm gonna enjoy it a great deal. Of course there will be some parts I definitely wouldn't look forward to i.e. waking up at 0530 on weekdays for the next 18 weeks, but I feel that all these are necessary, even (and especially) for me. Discipline. And though I may fall behind in the kitchen because of a genuine lack of experience, I'm still excited to be in the TCA because I'm here to do exactly what the chefs wanted us to do - learn. It's gonna be a hell of a semester but I believe it's gonna be a heavenly and amazing one too.
"Love" breakfast prepped by my dearest daddy before I roll off to school. I'd thought that morning would be the last time I'm seeing him for the day coz (I thought) I wouldn't be able to send him off that evening but thank God no wahahaha. The morning milo reminds me of my primary school times, especially the time when it was just my dad and I here back at Burlington. I'm just so appreciative of what he did for me ah love you pops! :)
And here's a #birthdayOOTD in my chef whites looking like a, well, tomato? Everything's big and it was like hipster-style to me but I kinda like wearing baggy clothes so I think the houndstooth trousers fit the bill.
And yes thank God the orientation ended early!!! Early enough for me to scoot off afterwards to send my dad off! And take some more pictures (to make up for the picture-less dinner on Sunday night hais). And thank God you're coming back soon!! It won't be long again hehe.
So after the father's off, the three of us went for dinner later that night. International buffet at the usual place coz we couldn't decide on where to eat (the biggest and most pissing problem ever for the twenty-first century human being). I only took the picture of our favourite grilled salmon which was amazing (and which the picture does not do any justice to the dish) so much so we ordered what 4 plates of this? Hahaha such gluttons we were.
As you can see I have had another outfit change #stepmodel hahaha so this is the real #birthdayOOTD I guess. Not that I'd planned to wear this for ages already but I finally get to wear this dress since I bought it in about August last year!! Oh and thank you mum for the necklace and shoes (which came as birthday presents yay!) My cheeks are still slightly swollen but it's sooooo much better now PTL really! I can have my normal face back soon woohoo!
And of course my deepest thanks to this bunch who came all the way down to my place (sort of) when it's almost midnight just to celebrate with me!! This is my first and probably the only cake I'll ever get but it's good enough coz IT'S GOT POOH ON IT!! It's so yellow and cute lah even with the china cheeks and all hahaha I really love it! And I can't bear (see the pun?) to eat it oh well. Thank you so much once again my sissies and Zi Qi! I'm really blessed to have y'all really :)
It was such a long day for me and I was already maxed out even before these punks came over but I'm really grateful nonetheless. It's a great birthday coz it's simple with no over-the-top surprises and I think I like it this way. Ah and also thank you to all who wished me!! And for some who gave me presents oh my there's actually no need for it, though I really appreciate and value them. Haiy why you all love me so much hahahaha really I am so thankful! I feel so loved hehe.
Above all, thank You Jesus for this day that You have made me!! I had such an incredible encounter with Him even on the bus on the way to school and I was just overwhelmed with great thankfulness. God is so so so great!!
So yeah lah, Cindy is a very happy and blessed girl hehe. And this girl is excited to meet her freshies for Week 0 Orientation in the next two days!
